Our Mission is to Make Disciples

The four fundamental truths that comprise our mission statement represent the four levels of spiritual growth to which all believers in general, and all River Oaks Church members in particular, should seek to attain. We all must connect with God because we're lost without Him; we must connect to other believers for we are alone without them; we must use our God-given gifts and talents to connect in ministry for our potential is unrealized without it, and we must connect the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world, because it is their only hope! As we lead, guide and disciple each member of the River Oaks Church family, our mission is to help them reach this balanced level of spiritual maturity.

Our Mission is To Be a Light in our community

Even before the birth of the Church on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2), Jesus taught in His Sermon on the Mount that His followers - who would later become the Church or the Bride of Christ - should live in light of all He's done for them. In that message, Jesus said: "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16) We demonstrate that light through kind acts of service, through faithfully proclaiming God's Holy Word, and through outreach events designed to show God's love in practical ways, and hopefully reach the people our community.

OuR Mission is World Evangelism

Whether it's through personal involvement in short-term missions trips, financially and prayerfully supporting active missionaries in many places around the world, or through involvement in World Missions Organizations who coordinate the giving and support of many churches throughout the world, we want our efforts, our energies, and our resources to reach as many people as possible - especially those in mostly un-churched areas around the world. We support Christian schools in Third-World nations, and help build houses for the needy, and churches for burgeoning congregations in places where the church, quite simply, is not welcomed.
